Backed Up Right Now? Call and We Roll

A drain backing up does not wait for business hours, so neither do we. Ring (02) 9134 9059 and you get a licensed plumber on the phone, day or night, 365 days a year.

You speak to a real person, not an answering machine, and a van is dispatched straight away.

Before we arrive, cut off any running water and lift nothing off the drain. Keep little ones and pets back from the pooling until we get there.

Local knowledge

Why Pymble Drains Block, and What We Find

The suburb was firmly settled by the 1890s once the North Shore railway arrived, and its grand Federation homes on leafy garden blocks were plumbed with earthenware clay drains. A century on, those pipes are behind most of the blockages we clear here.

The soil does not help. This ridge sits on reactive shale clay that expands when wet and contracts when dry, and that seasonal heave keeps working the old clay joints loose.

Once a joint cracks, roots find it. Every gap becomes an invitation, and debris snags on the intrusion until flow chokes off entirely. Blocked drain repair or a reline is often the real answer, not another clear.

Then there is the rain. Pymble records the highest rainfall in Sydney, around 1,441mm a year, and the older stormwater lines on these sloping blocks were never sized for it.

Heavy downpours surcharge undersized pits, and water backs up where the fall runs out. On the streets off Telegraph Road and Avon Road, we see the same wet-weather pattern each storm season.

Newer unit blocks near the station run modern PVC, so their trouble is more often grease and wipes than cracked pipe. The drainage here is really two eras sharing one patch of ground.

The right fix depends on which era you have got. Out near the Dalrymple-Hay Nature Reserve, the forest edge piles leaf litter and root pressure on top.

The Warning Signs Before a Drain Lets Go

Drains rarely give out without a heads-up. Spot the early signs and you deal with a sluggish pipe rather than a flooded laundry floor.

  • The sink or shower empties too slowly. When water hangs about where it used to disappear, something is part-choking the pipe below. A drain cleaning usually beats it before it fully seizes.
  • You hear a glug from the toilet or floor waste. That bubbling is air forced back up past an obstruction downstream, and it points to a blocked drain deeper in the run.
  • A foul, drainy whiff keeps rising. When waste stalls instead of flowing away, the smell follows, and that often means a blocked sewer.
  • The outside gully holds water or overflows. A gully that surcharges tells you the line beyond it has choked or backed up.
  • The toilet bowl level swings on its own. Water that rises then drops without a flush signals a part-blockage messing with the flow further along.
  • Odd wet patches appear on the lawn. Ground that stays soggy through dry weather often points to a cracked pipe seeping below, worth a CCTV inspection to confirm.

Straight pricing

What It Costs to Clear a Blocked Drain in Pymble

Straight up: there is no call-out fee, the on-site quote costs nothing, and you sign off the price before any work starts. Book online and you knock $50 off that price.

What the quote lands on comes down to the specific job, not a flat rate:

  • How easy the drain is to reach. A cleanout at ground level takes less time than a run sitting deep beneath a heritage garden.
  • Where the blockage sits. A choke near the fixture is lighter work than one sitting out at the boundary shaft or down in the main line.
  • Whether roots or a collapse show up. A cracked clay line packed with root fibre is a bigger job than a soft blockage that jets straight out.
  • Whether relining is the answer. When the camera finds a broken pipe, a reline runs dearer than a clear, though it spares you digging up the garden.

We show you what the camera finds and price it from there. Pensioners knock a further 10% off with our seniors discount.

How we work

How We Work: Camera First, Clear Second, Proof Last

No guessing and no digging blind. Every job here follows the same tested order, so you always know what is happening and why.

  1. 01

    Answer and Quote

A real person picks up and has a plumber on the road quickly. Once on-site, we walk the job and give you the price to approve before anyone lifts a spanner.

  2. 02

    Camera the Line

A CCTV camera goes into the drain to pinpoint the obstruction and what caused it. You watch the screen alongside us, so nothing gets taken on trust.

  3. 03

    Clear It Properly

We match the method to the blockage, hydro-jetting for grease and roots, an electric eel for a solid clog. The goal is full flow restored, not a quick poke that fails by next season.

  4. 04

    Prove It and Protect It

A closing camera run shows the pipe flowing clean, and we talk through any repair or no-dig reline it still needs. You finish up knowing exactly what was wrong and what we did about it.

Where we work

Servicing Homes from Gordon to Lindfield

We're on the road across Pymble and the wider Ku-ring-gai Council area most days, and the 30-minute guarantee holds across it. If you are in a neighbouring street, we cover you too:

In the community, for the community

In the Community, For the Community

We are a family-run business, and this suburb is not just a name on a map to us. These are streets we work most weeks, from the shops behind Robert Pymble Park to the homes tucked along the forest edge.

Being in the community means backing it. We support Ronald McDonald House Charities Sydney, Beyond Blue, Wayside Chapel and Pink Ribbon Day, and pitch in at neighbourhood events as they come around.

That is the neighbourly bit of the job, and it matters to us as much as the drains do.

Common questions

Pymble Blocked Drain Questions

The things homeowners here ring up and ask before they book, answered plainly, from cameras and fees to how fast we turn up.

Do you use a camera to check the drain?

Yes. The camera goes in before we start and again once we finish, so you first see the blockage itself, then watch the cleared pipe running. On the old earthenware drains around here, it also picks up cracks worth keeping an eye on.

Do you charge a call-out fee in Pymble?

No. There is no call-out fee anywhere here, and the on-site quote you approve holds firm, with no hourly meter running. You book $50 off online as well.

How do you clear a blocked drain?

First the camera locates the obstruction, then we choose the tool that suits it, most often a hydro-jetter or an electric eel. A follow-up camera run confirms the pipe is flowing freely again.

What suburbs do you service around Pymble?

We cover Pymble and the neighbouring Ku-ring-gai streets, including Gordon, St Ives, Turramurra, Killara and Lindfield. If your drain has backed up nearby, give us a call and we will tell you our next arrival window.

What should I do while I wait for the plumber?

Turn off taps and avoid flushing, because every extra litre adds to what is already backing up. Keep the family and pets clear of any water that has pooled, and leave the drain covers where they are until we get there.

What is pipe relining and do I need it?

Relining pulls a new resin liner through your existing pipe and cures it in place, so a cracked drain is sealed without digging up the garden. On Pymble's cracked clay lines it is often the cleaner long-term fix, and our camera tells you whether you need it.
